When I think of the word fear I automatically think of it as a negative. I've never thought to look at fear as being an indicator of value. There's a lot in life we can become fearful of. This is especially true for me when it comes to my artistry and career. It's easy to become fearful to the point of paralysis at the thought of "dropping the ball".
That fear is the very thing that should push us. I've always heard that courage is not the absence of fear, rather it's doing what needs to be done in the face of fear. It's easy to watch movies and read books and pick out "the courageous". It's easy to look at those in the military and law-enforcement and see that they're courageous. However, It's hard to look at yourself and call yourself courageous, but that's what we have to do.
We have to look at the fear of failure straight in the face and advance to achieve what we've been called and gifted to do. So with having a constitution of courage we can make fear useful as a Compass always advancing toward it and never letting it see our back sides. At that point, if we fail, we fail courageously. When we achieve what more could we ask for.
