So it's been a hot minute since my last coffee blog. I guess that's what happens when boy meets girl. Anyhow, I had an early show today and decided to stop by my local Whole Foods. I managed to pick up a bag of Organic Italian Roast coffee from Allegro Coffee Co. which may be an offshoot of Whole Foods. I've brewed up a cup of this goodness. It's not a bold aroma, but it's a very distinct one. If you had your eyes closed and smelled this coffee from your mug it has an aroma of a stew or vegetable beef soup. The taste is not overpowering at all but it 's smooth and very delightful. Just for the record the flavor doesn't resemble soup. This coffee would be awesome for a breakfast blend for people that like a light taste with some substance.
I give Allegro's Organic Italian Roast a 3 and 1/2 out of 5. It's worth the try but at $13 for 12oz it's a bit pricey.
Coffee Fact: Apparently when you down your cup-a-joe your actually drinking the juice from the pits of coffee cherries. The berry's are actually edible themselves and are in close relation to many of the properties found in the the trendy Acai berry. So coffee is another way to get in your nine servings of fruits and vegetables, right?!
