This afternoon I am trying a common staple among coffee drinkers, the "French Roast" from Starbucks. I thought I'd stay away from Starbucks for being the giant it is. I haven't tried this brew in a long time, especially while looking at it through the filter of putting it into words. I am listening to Norah Jones' "Be My Somebody", which is funny because I think the song was released on one of the albums you could buy at Starbucks.
So back to the coffee, it has nice fragrance out of the pack. It didn't brew up quite as thick as I expected. The flavor is a little watery at the beginning, but has nice bitter notes on the back of the tongue. The taste lingers to blossom a bit after you've swallowed. I think it would pair really well with sharp cheddar cheese or a crumbled blue cheese salad. I think to get the best out of this brew you need to enjoy it with something with a rich flavor.
I give Starbucks "French Roast" a 3 out of 5.
Interesting coffee fact:
Apparently, coffee can help reduce your chances of coronary heart disease or CHD. CHD happens when deposits containing Calcium begin to build up in the arteries. These deposits can break open or harden with time, reducing blood flow and causing clots that lead to heart attacks. CT Scans have revealed that those who drink 3-5 cups of coffee a day have 40% less of these deposits than non-coffee drinks. The percentage numbers of Calcium deposits increase with less and less coffee intake. So for your hearts sake drink up!
