So, I'm traveling with my girlfriend and it's slightly raining. The concern for the evening: the temperature dropping to freezing. She checks her phone for the temperature/forecast where it gives the actual temperature, and then a real feel temperature. Because I'm me, hearing a "real feel" temperature sent me off into "tangent world".
There's a saying that sparked in my memory "the heart is deceitful above all". When it comes to our feelings, and heart strings, we don't always have the best track record. Our feelings change on a dime. Is it wise to make any decision using a system of standards based on something that can literally be moved by what you ate for breakfast, or by what song is on the radio?
The truth is, water doesn't turn to ice at 40 degrees. No matter how much I feel like it's freezing, it isn't. It's truly crazy to think we make religious, political, and relational decisions based on feelings. I'm not saying there's no place for feelings, but if we allow our feelings to run roughshod over the truth, we become the Emperor with his new clothes.
